Feeling Loved? - Dave's Raves

“A new command I give you,” Jesus said to his followers, “Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” – John 13:34

Love is what attracts people in every culture and time to Jesus. Jesus taught it and lived it. He gave his life and his death to teach us how to love. When we get it – the church is at its best. The heart-broken are surrounded with loving friends, the discouraged are surrounded by encouragers, the sick are helped and no one is alone.

We’ll talk about loving one another in my church, this Sunday. We’ll look at John’s words in 1 John 3:1, 11-24.

Think about this: “when have you recently felt the love and caring of your church?”

Here are some responses I’ve received so far:
Angel Cooks – brought a plate of cookies to my office – and one took a plate to my family too.
When I called two of our members who had lost loved ones recently and heard that people from our church have been sending cards, calling, visiting and bringing meals.
In my small group – I can be myself, open, honest
In my small group – we care about each other
When hospitalized, people from the church visited me and prayed with me.
The way our Deacons take initiative to visit each other when there’s a loss or need, take meals.
I feel the support of our session as we work together.
The spaghetti feed reminded me of how important our youth group is – it was important for me at that age.
