Where is Baby?

That’s the message of these stories: the people that nobody wants around, God wants. God wants you and me, and once we’re found, God is searching, searching, searching for one more lost person who needs to be saved. (Luke 15)

Where is Baby?

Thursday night, I helped get the kids ready for bed. Everything was going well until Kimmy crawled into bed and discovered she was missing “Baby.” Baby is a soft, pink plush toy that Kimmy has slept with most of her life, not to be confused with Big Baby… We had Big Baby. But Baby was missing. So, we looked for Baby…

No big deal, I’m thinking. Kimmy had at least 99 other babies, bears, Barbies and other friends – she calls them her “kids” – she could pile into bed. But there was no reasoning with Kimmy; all her attention was on the missing Baby. We couldn’t find Baby. Fortunately, Kimmy’s tiredness won out over her concern for Baby and she finally fell asleep. But when she woke up, her waking concern was for Baby. Where was Baby?

Fortunately, we found Baby and Friday morning at the breakfast table, Kimmy met Baby again with a squeal of rejoicing. Our whole family – we all rejoiced with Kimmy over the Baby who was lost, but now Baby was found.
