The Value of Life: Eugene Clark

He wrote “I Know Who Holds the Future” with Alfred B Smith.

Nothing is Impossible…popular in churches in the late 1960’s

Nothing is impossible
When you put your trust in God.
Nothing is impossible when you take Him at His word.
Hearken to the voice of God to thee,
Is there anything too hard for me.
Then put your trust in God alone,
And rest upon his word,
For everything, oh everything, yes everything is possible with God.

I went to high school with his son, Bruce. Their house was on my way to school, so we sometimes walked together. After school, I’d stop in to see his dad–and eat cookies from his mom. When I knew him, he had rheumatoid arthritis, body, hands, fingers curled up in a hideous shape. The voice that had once sung in churches across the country was reduced to a gravelly monotone. His body was in the condition where many would complain that there is no “quality of life.”

Yet, I never heard him–or his wife–complain. He still had things to do. He’d compose songs, record them onto a cassette and his wife would take it from there. I always left encouraged.

It was the Imago Dei!

Even when he could no longer produce.

Genesis 1:27

“So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

Obit for his wife, Ferne Clark, who cared for Eugene when he was bed-ridden 21 years!!!
